ACTIVITIES
All of our activities are designed to help children learn through play. We encourage them to make their own choices within a supportive, well-structured environment.
Each child is offered activities tailored to their individual interests and stage of development, helping them grow in independence and confidence. These experiences may include painting, sand and water play, playdough, cutting and sticking, construction, maths and literacy games, or imaginative role play.
Through these playful opportunities, children are gently guided to explore early learning concepts such as counting, sorting, matching, pattern-making, and observing changes—like floating and sinking. This hands-on approach nurtures curiosity and builds strong foundations for future learning.
We promote children’s learning by following the seven areas of learning and development outlined in the Early Years Foundation Stage (EYFS). These areas provide a holistic approach to education, ensuring that every child develops essential skills and knowledge. The seven areas are:
PERSONAL, SOCIAL
& EMOTIONAL DEVELOPMENT
This area helps children build positive relationships, develop self-confidence, and understand their own emotions. They learn to recognise their feelings, express them appropriately, and respond with positive behaviour.
LITERACY
This area supports children in developing essential communication skills, fostering a love for reading and writing, and building confidence in expressing their ideas
PHYSICAL
DEVELOPMENT
This area supports children as they progress from managing their own basic needs to developing large gross‑motor skills and, eventually, more refined fine‑motor abilities such as threading.
COMMUNICATION & LANGUAGE
This area supports children’s listening, attention, understanding, and speech, helping them develop the skills they need to become confident and effective communicators.
MATHEMATICS
This area helps children develop a strong understanding of numbers, shapes, and patterns, building the foundations for problem-solving and logical thinking.
UNDERSTANDING THE WORLD
This area includes past and present, people and communities and the natural world in which we live.
EXPRESSIVE ARTS & DESIGN
This area explores the development of children’s imagination and creating with materials.
